The match between Brighton and Manchester United ended with a 2-1 victory for the home side, with Brighton sealing the win with a goal in stoppage time.

In recent seasons, Brighton has become something of a nemesis for Manchester United. The Red Devils have frequently suffered defeats at the hands of the Seagulls, and this trend continued at the Amex Stadium. The home team took the lead with a goal from Danny Welbeck in the first half.

However, Manchester United equalized in the 60th minute, making it 1-1. It seemed the game might end in a draw, but in the 90+5th minute, Brighton scored the decisive goal. From a corner kick, Adingra delivered a well-placed cross that Joao Pedro, unmarked at the far post, headed into the net, leaving Onana with no chance.

Since the 2022/23 season, Manchester United has lost more Premier League games due to goals scored in stoppage time than any other team (6). They had only lost 2 such games in the first 30 seasons of the competition combined.

Clearly, Manchester United’s stability in the closing moments of matches is a significant issue. If they continue to drop points in this manner, their chances of finishing in the Top 4, let alone competing for the title, will be severely compromised.

After the first two matches of the season, Manchester United has not shown much difference from the previous year. In their 1-0 win over Fulham, the only goal also came in the 87th minute.
