Real Madrid is determined to sign midfielder Rodri from Manchester City next summer, making him one of their top priorities.
Rodri is under contract with Manchester City until 2027 and is currently valued at around £109 million. However, this amount is within Real Madrid’s spending capacity. This summer, Los Blancos added superstar Kylian Mbappé to their squad, just one year after acquiring Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund for £115 million.
Rodri has been one of Manchester City’s most crucial players in recent years. Last year, the Spanish midfielder finished fifth in the Ballon d’Or race.
Rodri played a key role in helping Manchester City win their fourth consecutive Premier League title before clinching the Euro 2024 championship with the Spanish national team.
Rodri’s excellence has caught Real Madrid’s attention. Currently, Los Blancos are still searching for a long-term successor to Toni Kroos, and they are planning to target Rodri next summer.
As a native of Madrid, the prospect of playing at Santiago Bernabéu could be appealing to him. Nevertheless, Real Madrid will need to work hard, as Rodri has recently been offered a new contract by Manchester City with a salary of £375,000 per week.
Rodri still has three years left on his contract, but Manchester City is keen to secure him for the long term. In fact, Manchester City is prepared to restructure his salary to match that of captain Kevin De Bruyne. Rodri’s base salary may decrease, but it will be compensated with substantial bonuses.
