A few hours after firing Jose Mourinho, AS Roma immediately appointed legendary Daniele De Rossi to replace him.

This morning local time, AS Roma suddenly fired Mourinho 6 months before his contract expired. Immediately after beheading the Special One, the Italian capital football team accelerated the negotiation process to close the contract with Daniele de Rossi. Some sources in the boot-shaped country said that Roma BLD contacted and negotiated with Daniele de Rossi before firing Mourinho.

5 hours after dealing with Mourinho and just a few minutes after the Special One packed his bags and left the Trigoria training center, AS Roma immediately announced a new coach. On the homepage, Giallorossi confirmed the selection of Daniele De Rossi to replace Mourinho.

According to the Olimpico Stadium team, Daniele de Rossi signed a contract until June 2024. The 40-year-old coach’s contract has an extension option for an undisclosed period.

Excited after reuniting with AS Roma in a new position, De Rossi said: “I would like to thank the Friedkin family (owners of AS Roma) for trusting me with the responsibility of leading Roma. For my part, I There is nothing else to do but dedication, daily sacrifice and giving everything we have to face the challenges that await us from now until the end of the season.

The feeling of sitting on the club’s coaching bench is indescribable. Everyone knows what Roma means to me. However, the work that awaits us all comes first. We have no time or choice but to compete, fight for our goals and try to achieve them. Those are the only priorities that my colleagues and I set for ourselves.”

Thus, De Rossi has returned to Roma after 5 years of separation. The former Italian international grew up in the Giallorossi training camp. In 2001, he was promoted to the first team. De Rossi contributed to Roma from that time until his departure in 2019.

Leaving Roma after 18 years of dedication, the 40-year-old former midfielder moved to Boca Juniors. In 2020, De Rossi parted ways with the Argentine team and announced he was hanging up his shoes.

After retiring, De Rossi joined the Italian national team under Roberto Mancini, contributing to helping the team win EURO 2020. At the end of 2022, the Roma legend was appointed coach by SPAL, when they played in Serie B. De Rossi was fired by the team currently playing in Serie C early last year after 17 matches (won 3, drew 6, lost 8).

Roma’s board of directors hopes that De Rossi, with the experience he has accumulated as a player and coach (Italy and SPAL), will help revive the declining team. Currently, Roma ranks 9th on the Serie A rankings with 22 points behind top team Inter Milan (29 versus 51), and 5 points behind fourth-place Fiorentina (29 versus 34). De Rossi will make his Roma debut as a coach when he welcomes Verona in round 21 of Serie A on January 21.
