Through the club’s official website, MU recently issued an announcement regarding striker Marcus Rashford missing training right before the Red Devils defeated Newport County in round 4 of the 2023/24 FA Cup. Accordingly, MU considers this an internal issue and does not specify how they handle the English striker.
Although MU’s board of directors did not want to make more of a fuss about the incident, they also confirmed that Rashford “took full responsibility” for his behavior. It’s unknown how MU handles the internal issue, but The Sun newspaper revealed that Rashford faces the risk of having his salary deducted for 2 weeks, equivalent to a sum of £650,000.
Notably, before MU made the above announcement, Rashford and his representative went to the team headquarters to work with coach Erik Ten Hag. The exchange was expected to be tense because the striker born in 1997 was exhausted because he went to Thompsons Garage nightclub in Belfast and got rowdy here right before training the next day.
He was so willing to return to Manchester by plane, but was unable to join the team as planned. Not going to the training ground, Rashford also missed MU’s 4-2 win over Newport County. At the press conference before and after that match, coach Ten Hag confirmed that his student was not allowed to register to play because he was sick.
According to the Daily Mail, Rashford, after accepting full responsibility, was allowed to return to training. Most likely, he will attend the next match between MU and Wolves (January 2). If you ignore the indiscipline, Rashford is actually in quite good form. In the last 4 matches, he contributed 2 goals and provided 2 assists to help his teammates score.
