Sevilla has just completed a contract with 20-year-old striker Mateo Mejia from Man Utd.
On the homepage, Man Utd has just issued a confirmation notice for Mateo Mejia to come to Sevilla. In his message, the Red Devils wished the Spanish-Colombian striker the best in his new career journey.
Similar to M.U, Sevilla also just announced this deal. According to the Seville team, Mateo Mejia’s contract has a term of 4 and a half years.
The parties involved did not announce details, but according to Sky Sports, M.U let this young star go to Sevilla for free. According to the agreement, the Red Devils will receive 25% of the contract value if Sevilla sells Mateo Mejia in the future.
Thus, Mateo Mejia left M.U after 5 years of joining the Manchester team. Growing up at the Zaragoza academy, the striker born and raised in Spain moved to the Red Devils youth academy in 2019.
In nearly 5 years on the M.U payroll, Mateo Mejia did not play any official match for the first team. The 20-year-old striker came on as a substitute in the friendly match with Wrexham last summer. Also last summer, Mateo Mejia signed a new contract with the Red Devils.
Just 7 months after signing a new contract with Mateo Mejia, M.U let this young striker go to Sevilla. Mateo Mejia is the third player the Seville team has recruited since the beginning of this year’s winter market after Hannibal (loaned from M.U) and Lucien Agoumé (loaned from Inter Milan).
Sevilla is currently the La Liga representative recruiting the most active players in the 2024 winter market. The Seville team must strengthen their forces to escape the constant performance crisis and avoid the risk of relegation. Currently, Sevilla ranks 17th on the rankings with only 1 point ahead of the group holding the red light.
