Tottenham Hotspur has announced the transfer of Yang Min-hyuk, a young talent causing a sensation in the K League 1 this season.

Yang Min-hyuk is considered a prodigy of current Korean football.

On their official website, the “Spurs” announced a six-year contract with the young Korean talent. According to The Athletic, Tottenham agreed to pay 6 million euros to Gangwon to acquire the player born in 2006, the highest transfer fee in the history of Korean football.

At 18, Yang Min-hyuk is also the youngest player in Korean football history to sign a contract with an English Premier League team. On his debut, the player, regarded as the new prodigy of Korean football, admitted, “Son Heung-min had a big influence on my decision to join Tottenham.”

Yang Min-hyuk will continue to play for Gangwon until January 2025, after which he will join Tottenham. The 18-year-old winger is seen as a phenomenon in Korean football, having made a strong impression in his first professional season.

Since the start of the 2024 season, Yang Min-hyuk has scored 8 goals and provided 4 assists for Gangwon in 25 K League 1 matches, an impressive achievement for a player of his age.

Yang Min-hyuk is also one of the youngest players in K League 1 history to start more than 20 matches in a single season. Yang Min-hyuk possesses speed, dribbling skills, and effective finishing. He can play well on both wings and is seen as the new Son Heung-min of Korean football, thanks to the similarities in their playing positions.
