AS Roma has announced on their official website that they have officially signed Mats Hummels on a free transfer.

After negotiations between AS Roma and Mats Hummels reached a conclusion, the player born in 1988 has joined the club on a free transfer.

AS Roma joyfully shared this news on their website. At his new club, the German defender will wear the number 15 jersey.

Hummels has signed a one-year contract with the option for an additional year with AS Roma. The 36-year-old center-back will earn €3 million per season, including bonuses.

Hummels joins AS Roma following the closure of the European summer transfer window, but this move is fully compliant with regulations.

Throughout the summer, Hummels has been a free agent. He parted ways with Borussia Dortmund when his contract expired at the end of the 2023/24 season.

During the summer, he actively sought a new team. Initial negotiations between Hummels and AS Roma encountered some issues, and at times it seemed the deal might fall through. However, both parties eventually reached an agreement to finalize the contract.

Prior to signing Hummels, AS Roma also acquired Mario Hermoso on a free transfer. The Italian capital club is expected to include both new signings in their registration list in due course.
