Rio Ferdinand believes that Karim Benzema will be a suitable player for the role of mentoring Rasmus Hojlund at Man United.

Karim Benzema has been linked with a move to Man United after rumors suggested that Al-Ittihad club dropped him for not coming to training after the winter break. Al-Ittihad Club also removed Karim Benzema’s name from the squad moving to Dubai to practice.

Rio Ferdinand believes that Man United will benefit from a player of Karim Benzema’s caliber. The experience of the French striker will be of great help to a young striker like Rasmus Hojlund, who has only scored 2 goals in the Premier League this year.

“We’ve done this before. We recruited Cristiano, Falcao, Cavani, Zlatan. How can we refuse Benzema?

When asked if Man United could meet Benzema’s high salary, Ferdinand replied: “Probably not. So I don’t think this deal can happen. I would be very surprised. However, I still feel that Rasmus Hojlund needs someone by his side to support him.

Hojlund needed someone to follow and learn from. I remember when we had Danny Welbeck come up to the first team, he could learn from Cristiano, Rooney and Tevez. Diego Forlan came here when he was young and had Solskjaer and Van Nistelrooy supporting him. Chicharito is similar. They will know what a real striker is like and learn from it. Hojlund only knows how to look at himself in the mirror.”

The possibility of Man United recruiting Karim Benzema is very small due to the French striker’s huge salary. Unless Al-Ittihad liquidates Benzema’s contract, maybe MU will have a chance in this deal.
