Former player Dimitar Berbatov has asserted that Rasmus Hojlund needs to improve his goal-scoring ability moving forward.

Rasmus Hojlund joined Manchester United last summer for a fee of £70 million, including add-ons. However, the Danish striker’s performances have been relatively underwhelming. In his debut season, Hojlund scored 16 goals in 42 appearances across all competitions. While this is not a bad tally for a first season in the Premier League, former player Dimitar Berbatov hopes Hojlund can enhance his scoring prowess.

“Hojlund’s goal-scoring performance needs to improve. He needs to play better, and I think he can become better. Everything depends on his level of focus. He must maintain high concentration throughout the match. He is getting good chances but hasn’t been able to capitalize on them.”

Berbatov also believes this is a crucial time in Hojlund’s career where he needs to put in extra effort. The Bulgarian former player insists that Hojlund’s hard work will be rewarded, especially with Ruud van Nistelrooy as part of the coaching staff.

“This is a time when Hojlund needs to work even harder. It’s not easy, but it will pay off. Especially now that Manchester United has Ruud van Nistelrooy in the coaching staff. If he doesn’t take this opportunity to learn from one of the best strikers, he is clearly wasting time. He should talk to Ruud, ask questions, even go to his house if needed, show respect, listen, learn, and try to apply it in matches.”

Unfortunately for Rasmus Hojlund, he has suffered a hamstring injury and will be out until September. The Danish player is expected to return after the international break.
