Atalanta is increasingly confident about keeping Ademola Lookman amid growing rumors that Arsenal and Liverpool are considering making offers for the player.
The 26-year-old was once seen as a major talent while at Charlton. He moved to Everton early in his career but failed to make an impact at Goodison Park, later moving to RB Leipzig, Fulham, and Leicester. Now, Ademola Lookman is thriving at Atalanta.
The Nigerian star has scored 24 goals in 62 Serie A matches. Last season, he enjoyed the highlight of his career, scoring a hat-trick in the Europa League final that saw Atalanta defeat Bayer Leverkusen 3-0.
According to Alfredo Pedulla, his impressive form has reportedly attracted interest from Arsenal, who are still searching for a winger capable of supporting and competing with Bukayo Saka. Liverpool has also reportedly joined the race for his signature.
However, Fabrizio Romano reports that the interest from Liverpool and Arsenal is not genuine, and Atalanta believes they can convince the player to commit his future to the club. The Serie A side is expected to reject any offers for their star this summer.
Meanwhile, Arsenal is closing in on signing Mikel Merino from Real Sociedad and has reportedly reached an agreement with Joan Garcia from Espanyol. Eddie Nketiah is also nearing a departure from Arsenal, as Nottingham Forest is close to securing a £30 million deal for the English striker.
Arsenal’s transfer budget could increase further with the potential departure of Reiss Nelson, who is being pursued by Leicester.
