Arsenal is eyeing Liverpool’s forward Darwin Nunez as the summer transfer window approaches its close, according to Fichajes.

If the deal goes through, Nunez would become Arsenal’s fourth signing for the 2024/2025 season, joining David Raya, Riccardo Calafiori, and recently acquired Mikel Merino.

Arsenal’s interest in Nunez comes as they look to bolster their attacking options before the summer transfer window shuts. The Gunners see Nunez as a potential replacement for Benjamin Sesko, who has decided to extend his contract with RB Leipzig.

Arsenal had previously shown interest in Nunez when he was with Benfica but were beaten to his signature by Liverpool in the summer of 2022.

Currently, Nunez appears to be in a precarious position at Anfield following Liverpool’s appointment of Arne Slot as manager, replacing Jurgen Klopp. This change could open the door for Arsenal.

In the Premier League this season, Nunez has played only 18 minutes over two matches. In the opening game, he remained on the bench throughout Liverpool’s fixture against Ipswich. In the second match, he was brought on in the final minutes with Liverpool already leading Brentford 2-0.

Given his limited role and uncertain future at Liverpool, Nunez might be inclined to accept Arsenal’s offer, provided Liverpool gives the green light.

Experts suggest that Liverpool might let Nunez leave for around 73 million euros, a significant reduction from the 100 million euros they paid Benfica for him in the summer of 2022.
