Portuguese media reported that Joao Neves has reached a personal agreement with PSG and is now waiting for the two clubs to finalize the transfer fee.
According to A Bola (Portugal), PSG has made rapid progress in the Joao Neves deal, even though they were not the first club interested in the 19-year-old midfielder. The Parisian club has essentially reached a personal agreement with Neves and is now only negotiating the transfer fee with Benfica.
Neves has agreed to sign a 5-6 year contract with PSG and will receive a salary of 5 million Euros per season, 10 times his current income at Benfica. As a result, the income of the Portuguese international will skyrocket after joining the Paris club.
The teenage star is eagerly waiting for PSG to finalize the transfer fee with Benfica so he can travel to France for a medical check and complete the contract.
According to Transfermarkt’s valuation, Neves is worth 55 million Euros. However, Benfica wants to receive 80-100 million Euros as the Portuguese international has proven his quality and still has 4 years remaining on his contract.
PSG wants to recruit Neves to replace Manuel Ugarte, who has agreed to move to Manchester United. Previously, it was United who first contacted Benfica about Neves but quickly gave up due to the high asking price. The Red Devils desperately need to upgrade their midfield after a disappointing 2023/24 season and missing out on the Champions League.
In addition to Neves, PSG also wants to recruit the expensive striker Victor Osimhen from Napoli. After losing Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid, coach Luis Enrique’s team is forced to reinforce several positions to continue their dream of winning the European title for the first time.
