Atletico Madrid is making headlines again this summer with another major transfer move from Manchester City. Following their high-profile acquisition of Julian Alvarez, the Spanish club is now in negotiations to bring in another City player, Matheus Nunes.
This summer, Atletico Madrid made a splash by signing Julian Alvarez from Manchester City for a fee that could rise to €95 million, including add-ons. Now, they are looking to add Matheus Nunes, who has struggled to secure a regular spot at the Etihad Stadium.
Nunes joined Manchester City last year for £53 million but has spent much of his time on the bench. With Ilkay Gundogan returning this summer, Nunes’ future at City has become increasingly uncertain, and the club is open to offers for him.
Atletico Madrid is currently negotiating a loan deal for Nunes with Manchester City. Previously, the Madrid club also signed Conor Gallagher from the Premier League for €35 million, in addition to players like Roben Le Normand, Alexander Sorloth, and Clement Lenglet.
On the other hand, Manchester City has only added Savinho and Gundogan to their squad this summer. The Etihad club is also working to find a new destination for João Cancelo, who has attracted interest from Al Hilal, who has made an offer of £21 million.
With the departure of Alvarez and potentially Nunes, Manchester City might look to reinforce their attack to provide additional support to Erling Haaland.
