At a recent event, former Manchester United star Teddy Sheringham shared his thoughts on the future of manager Erik ten Hag.

Following Manchester United’s defeat to Liverpool in the third round of the Premier League, Erik ten Hag has faced ongoing criticism for not advancing the team’s performance. Despite receiving a one-year contract extension this summer, his future remains uncertain if United continues to perform poorly.

Regarding this, Sheringham predicted when Ten Hag might be dismissed: “Do I think he will still be in charge by the end of the season? No, I don’t think so. I believe Ten Hag will be gone by Christmas.

I understand what he says about trophies, but those are the League Cup and the FA Cup. When I was playing for Manchester United, the League Cup was just a fleeting thought. If we could reach the final, great, but it’s not a major competition. The most important are the Premier League and the Champions League, then the FA Cup. Even the FA Cup is not that important, to be honest.”

Previously, Erik ten Hag had claimed that Manchester United is the most successful club after Manchester City, based on the trophies won in the past two seasons. During the summer transfer window of 2024, Ten Hag was given the opportunity to add five quality players, yet there are still no signs of improvement.
