In an effort to further reduce their wage bill, Barcelona is considering selling center-back Andreas Christensen before the end of the summer transfer window in 2024.
Christensen Next in Line for Departure
Despite already offloading Ilkay Gundogan, Barcelona has not yet managed to meet La Liga’s wage cap requirements. The Catalan giants are currently unable to include Dani Olmo in their registration list.
As a result, Barcelona must offload additional players before the end of the summer transfer window to alleviate their wage burden. According to Mundo Deportivo, Andreas Christensen is the next player at risk of being sold.
Barcelona is willing to let the Danish player go for around 25 million euros. The club had previously signed Christensen on a free transfer in the summer of 2022.
Christensen is reportedly open to leaving Barcelona, but only if he receives an offer with a compensation package equivalent to what he is currently earning.
Earlier, Barcelona attempted to offload Frenkie De Jong, their highest-paid player. However, no club has been able to meet the approximately 700,000 euros salary demanded by the Dutchman. More importantly, De Jong has no intention of leaving.
